OMÜ Faculty of Architecture Dean-Student Meeting: New Goals Following a Year Full of Success Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Architecture held its 2025–2026 Academic Year Dean-Student Meeting with high participation. The event began with the opening speech by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çetin, and featured a discussion of the faculty's projects, activities, achievements, and goals for the new term. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çetin emphasized the importance of students growing into individuals who are sensitive to society, the environment, and their profession, in addition to their academic success. He stated, "Your achievements are our greatest source of motivation. Our Faculty continues its education with an innovative, productive, and interdisciplinary approach." Çetin highlighted that OMÜ's eligibility for "full accreditation" by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) for a period of 5 years was a source of great pride, adding that the Faculty of Architecture is resolutely working to maintain and continuously improve upon this success. Information was shared about events held throughout the year, including Architecture Week, the AI-Supported Learning and Production Processes Project, UyumFest (Orientation Fest), seminars, exhibitions, and competitions. The support secured by faculty students through TÜBİTAK 2209-A projects, their awards in national competitions, and their participation in international organizations such as KielMUN 2025 received great applause. Sporting and social activities held with the active participation of students within the faculty were also highlighted. Events such as the "Architects of the Net" volleyball match created an environment where academic intensity was balanced with the energy of sport. Students Shared Their Demands During the meeting, students also conveyed their demands for the improvement of faculty living spaces directly to Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çetin. Students requested: an increase in seating areas within the faculty, the creation of display stands for project juries, the organization of common areas where they can work on computers during free time, and the provision of projectors and screens for classrooms that currently lack them. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çetin listened carefully to all student requests and promised that these needs would be met in a short time. Students expressed great satisfaction with the faculty administration's sensitive approach and the opportunity to share their views directly. At the end of the meeting, students presented Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çetin with flowers and conveyed their thanks. Will Become a Traditional Meeting Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çetin stated that the Dean-Student Meeting will be held regularly every year, saying, "These types of meetings offer us the opportunity to closely understand our students' expectations and produce solutions together. I thank all the students who participated." The OMÜ Faculty of Architecture will continue its efforts in the coming period to increase the quality of education, enhance student satisfaction, and strengthen a productive and collaborative faculty environment.
